Windows gadget bar not updating
So what are users of Windows 10 supposed to do if they still want to use desktop gadgets?
Well, some clever developers had the same questions and came up with some nice solutions.
Just get an URL of your calendars, put them into the gadget and you are all set.
It is great helper for having a track of your everyday tasks and upcoming deadlines. In the previous version was implemented a download wrapper which extended support of calendar sources.
However, the traffic has overloaded the server capacity and it started failing with response code 503.
In the hotfix the wrapper has been removed, which may cause troubles with some calendar sources, but in general should give better service reliability.
Another concern is that since Live Tiles run in a more restrictive environment, they are less useful for some purposes, such as monitoring system information.
Once Desktop Gadgets pack is installed, it will automatically open Gadgets window that we’re familiar with.
By default, just like in Windows 7, Gadgets window includes a total of eight gadgets: Calendar, Clock, CPU Meter, Currency, Feed Headlines, Picture Puzzle, Slide Show, and Weather.
- New version of the gadget brings many improvements.
It improves the compatibility with calendar providers, repairs some bugs but most importantly it introduces a new updated look designed for big screens. It is called Midnight 2, make sure you'll select it in the settings dialog of the gadget (if you are a new user, this theme is selected by default).Note that this is a 24-inch monitor, and I have a three-monitor array (19- inch monitors on either side), so I have plenty of screen real estate to work with.
